Concert advice for July 12th

We%26#39;re visiting Vienna July 12th and 13th, and are looking for a good concert/opera to visit the evening of the 12th. I%26#39;ve seen Vertical and Roley help out others, so if you, or anyone else has advice, I%26#39;d really appreciate it.

I%26#39;m focused on these two right now -

1. Die Fleidermouse at Schloss schoenbrunn: musik-theater-schoenbrunn.at/english/termine… Neither of us has seen an opera before, but this seems like a good place to see our first.

2. Mozart Orchestra at the state opera - http://www.mozart.co.at/date_en.htm I love Mozart, and I%26#39;ve heard the acoustics are amazing at the state opera, but I worry about watching a %26quot;day-in, day-out%26quot; performance that might not end up being special. If we don%26#39;t go to this performance, is it possible to just tour the opera house?

Another one that I would love to go to instead would be the performance of idomeneo …styriarte.com/programme_2008/…idomeneo5 (Both Mozart AND opera - perfect!), but it%26#39;s sold out - any ideas on where I could buy tickets (e.g. ticket agent)?

Thanks for any help!

I would choose Fledermaus - a Strauss classic operetta - with good music , a little dance and some comedy too.

The Schönbrunn theater is a very nice small venue and very well decorated - originally the private theater of the Royals - just on the right side as you enter the main gate of Schönbrunn Palace.

As you say a good introduction.

The performance of Idomeneo , I believe is not held in Vienna but in graz - 2 hours away.

You can take a tour of the State Opera -

look to

www.staatsoper.at

click on guided tours. Not really a fan of the Mozart orchestra -perhaps yor money better spent elsewhere - but just my opinon.

also an alternative

%26quot; Weisses Rössl%26quot; the offering at Mörbisch this year.

www.seefestspiele-moerbisch.at

an open air venue on a lake - about 5-600 seats - very popular and a galea performance.

A package of ticket and bus available.

But still Fldermaus - convenient and a good evening of music.

Enjoy .
