Getting around in Salzburg

While staying in Innsbruck 2 year ago we greatly enjoyed the Innsbruck card which gave us unlimited access to the trams and other modes of transportation while there.

Does Salzburg have any cards or other transportation progyams like this?

We will be in Salzburg this September.

we purchased the 48 hrs salzburg and its worth it you can use it on bus up to untersberg and cover most of the sites including hellbrunn and untersberg cable car and if you%26#39;re planning the last two its really a big saving

The previous poster mentions the Salzburg Card, which gives free access to many of the tourist sights and attractions and also free travel on the city buses. If you didn%26#39;t want to buy the Salzburg Card (although I%26#39;d recommend that you do if you want to visit the sights) you can also buy a %26quot;Wochenkarte%26quot; a weekly bus ticket which is cheaper than paying for the bus each time. The cost of the ticket is €12.40 per person. All bus journeys on the city buses are €1.80 so you can soon begin to make savings with the card.

The way it works is that you buy the card (available from kiosks and some hotels) and the first time you ride the bus you push the card into a little machine in the body of the bus (not by the driver). This registers the card and you must keep it with you on each journey. After that first journey you don%26#39;t need to do anything other than keep the card safe in case an inspector gets on (which they do, regularly).
