Train from Vienna to Budapest

What is best way to buy a ticket once in Vienna? Do travel agents sell these? Can I just show up at train station and get ticket then. Will be there in middle of October. Thanks!

Show up not too late and purchase them!

The middle of October should not be a busy time.

You can just go to the train station and buy your ticket , the same day that you travel.

Note that trains to Budapest leave from both the Sudbahnhof and Westbahnhof.

be certain to go to the correct station.

schedules and all info at

www.oebb.at

2nd class travel is fine - no need to reserve seats .

There is no direct train to Budapest that originates from the Railway Station South (Südbahnhof)!!! All trains towards Budapest depart at Railway Station West (Westbahnhof).

%26quot; All trains toward Budapest depart from the Westbahnhof %26quot;

simply not correct . A quick look to the train schedule indicates numerous trains to Budapest leave from Sudbahnhof- depending upon departure time - these can be as or more convenient - even with making the one easy transfer travel times are almost the same for many of them.

|||

Then please state a train if you have the knowledge and prove that I am not right!

My fahrplan.oebb.at states only one EuRegio train in the morning that takes more than four hours! All others require a transfer, hence they are not trains to Budapest! Very simple!

Mikey - read what I said - I only quoted your statent %26quot;all trains TOWARD Budapest leave from the Westbahnhof.

The schedule clearly shows that travelers can take trains towrd Budapest from the Sudbahnhof.

Enough said -

|||

Now then boys!! You are both technically correct!

|||

%26quot;....train schedule indicates numerous trains to Budapest leave from Sudbahnhof...%26quot;

Maybe I need glasses, but I cannot see these trains! I only get connections via Bruck/Leitha with sometimes very short transfers.

It is good to know that you send visitors to Südbahnhof, although there are NUMEROUS DIRECT trains departing from Westbahnhof.
