Driving to Konigsee?

I love this forum!

That being said my question is, strictly speaking, regarding a location Germany, but my searches always land me in the Austria forum...

We are planning a trip to Munich %26amp; Salzburg in September, and I want to stay one night at Konigsee %26quot;on the way%26quot; (sort of) at the Schiffmeister.

What the wife has charged me to find out from you experts is whether she will need to be nervous about the drive to Konigsee -- twisty mountain roads, steep precipices, etc?

Is there a route that will save my arms from the claw marks and her knuckles from turning totally white? Thanks all!

My goodness, we are a little fraidy-cats here . . .

If you want twisty mountain roads, the trip to Berchtesgaden won%26#39;t provide those. Just miles from the German/Austrian border, right next to Salzburg, the German Corner - as it%26#39;s called - is easily reached via freeway. Get off at Bad Reichenhall and then take the well-marked highway to Berchtesgaden. Mountains on both sides, but you are on the valley floor. Lodgings in Berchtesgaden. A slow boat ride on the Königssee will take you to St. Bartholomä church so picturesque at the end of the lake. Forum members report that the view from the Jenner gondola is better than the boat trip.

Time for a flatlander to experience high altitude!

Wow...I came in to find the little woman collapsed in a flood of tears! Were they tears of contrition or relief? She won%26#39;t say.

Thanks for your help!
