This forum in incredible for the wealth of information presented, so I know someone will have the answer to my questions.
My family of five, all adults, will be in Salzburg this year from 12/20 to 12/27 and we will have a car.
Is it better to book tours for a Christmas sleigh ride and a visit to the Silent Night church on Christmas Eve or is it just as easy to do these things on your own? I have found scores of websites offering sleigh rides and they are much less expensive than the tour.
Are we crazy to do the Silent Night tour on our own because of crowds and traffic? Also, we want to book a Christmas Eve dinner in Salzburg. Will we be back in time for an 8:00 pm reservation?
Thanks for your expert advice.

Well, as the Holy Night Mass is basically attended by locals, you could do it pefectly on your own. The fact that this is offered by a tour operator let me ponder about the authenticity but why not....as long as there are locals there.
I don%26#39;t expect the traffic to be heavy as this is not carnival, but being among the crowds makes it even more interesting, isn%26#39;t it?
