Hi,
I will be spending 2 nights in Innsbruck in July and will be bringing my mountain bike with me. Can anyone suggest any routes? Preferable easy - medium difficulty and not more than 20km.
Also interested in knowing if there are any lakes in the area that are good for swimming or other things to do. Thanks.

May I suggest the Achensee, Austria%26#39;s supposedly coldest lake? If you wanna see your body parts shrink, this water is the right one for you!

If you go to the tourist information there%26#39;s a free map called %26quot;Bike and fun%26quot; which has routes marked on. But basically if you just head north of the city to that mountain range you can wind your way up the mountains to one of the huts (Höttinger Alm is a popular one) for a beer %26amp; food if you want. These routes aren%26#39;t very technical (mostly on fireroad) but are good for the fitness. You%26#39;re not meant to ride on the footpaths and in summer they%26#39;ll be pretty busy with hikers.
More technical riding is to the south of the city but it%26#39;s not marked and harder to find on your own... Although the area around Lansersee (a nice swimming lake) is fun to ride around in.
http://www.tirol.at/ has a lot of info and I think there may be organised mtb tours with the visitors card.
