Day trip - Bratislava or Sopron?

I will be in Vienna in a couple of weeks for a few days. I plan to make one day trip during my stay to either Sopron or Bratislava, but I can%26#39;t decide which to choose.

I would prefer the city which has more to see and do - historic and/or glamourous buildings and interesting museums.

Which would you recommend and why?

Bratislava has a great city centre, while Sopron is only a small town with only a very few attractions.

Braislava is a capital, Sopron is a little, but pretty Hungarian town.

Neither of the above - go to Brno which has much more to offer in the way of museums, baroque churches and other monuments, including a UNESCO world heritage site (Tugendhat Villa). Loads of information here: http://www.brno.cz/index.php?lan=en

It is 1 hour 40 by train (Suedbahnhof) - times here www.idos.cz and costs about 22 Euros

Brno cannot be reached as comfortable as Bratislava as there are less trains a day taking longer for the trip. Bratislava is connected to Vienna by two trains each hour, while Brno is only served every two hours. Well, probably not a big deal either, but needs just more preplanning.

The price to Bratislava is only 14€ (return ticket + public transport within the city)

That may be so, but it is more worth it when you get here! If you want to make a full day of it, there is one at 0732 from Suedbahnhof, after which there is one at 1004.

Honestly, you will enjoy it a lot more - there is infinitely more to see and do.

Or you can do both on different days - Bratislava is only a short trip away and can be done in an afternoon. Yes the centre is nice, but very small.

And in fact it takes about the same amount of time, all things considered, as you have to get from either Petrzalka station or the main station to the centre of Bratislava, whereas in Brno the station is (for the moment, anyway) right in the city centre.

The choice is yours - it%26#39;s just a suggestion...
