www.tennis-hotel.at

in english also. A 4 star rating

I do not know the hotel - looks to be just out of town- near to the lake

good narrative and photos should help you decide if it is for you.

I have already had a look at the website, and it does%26#39;t give me the relevant information i need really.

All im looking for is peoples feedback on the hotel, because it disent really seem that well known!

someone must know of this hotel or at least where it is in Wolfgang? *confused*

is getting me worried!

From studying the Austrian telephone book online, I would say that the address of the hotel is Au 53 - Au is a little hamlet just before you reach St Wolfgang. It does look a way out of the main village. The photograph on their website makes it look set a way back from the lake. I was in St Wolfgang last week and have a general idea of the layout of the village and it does look quite a schlep from the hotel to the lake - which may or may not suit you.

St Wolfgang village is very compact and picturesque with many restaurants and cafes and also the lake ferry stopping close at hand. I quite fancy going on holiday there, but I would prefer to stay in the centre of town.

I had a look at http://www.at.map24.com/ and typed in the hotel address which is Au 53, 5360 The map that comes up shows the hotel as being quite a distance from St Wolfgang village, and off the main road. It wouldn%26#39;t be a huge distance - maybe a 15 minute walk to the ferry landing in the middle of St Wolfgang village, but that can be a pain if you are doing it several times a day.

I hope this helps.

ok thank you!

that has kinda helped. the hotel told me 10min walk, and it has been worrying me a bit. but as we%26#39;re only staying 2 nights and planning to be out and about anyway i dont think it will effect things too much (hopefully), but im not sure how manageable it will be to go into st wolfgang after our evening meal with full stomachs!

i only chose that hotel because it was the cheaper 4 star of the lot. and being a student...well..that says it all!

any other information will be appreciated, i have been wolfgang before, but stayed in the white horse (back when i went with parents!) - those were the days!

Glad to be of help! (obviously the people at the hotel walk faster than me - but then, they would, I look like Jabba the Hut!)

I loved St Wolfgang and hope you have a super time. It%26#39;s a lovely spot, and I specially enjoyed riding round the lake on the ferry - that%26#39;s my idea of a nice morning activity!

For a cheap feed, I would really recommend the Gasthaus Franz Josef, which is on the square directly opposite the ferry landing for St Wolfgang Markt (as opposed to the ferry landing further along by the Schafberg train station). I had enough food there to send me straight to the bottom of the lake and it was only 12,50 euros - and delicious! It was so fresh, when the lady at the table next to me ordered schnitzel you could hear them pounding it flat out back in the kitchen.

I took the Schafberg train up to the top of the mountain which was fun - but I went too early in the morning when it was still misty so better to go later. It%26#39;s worth going to the office in the morning and reserving a place on a later train as it does get quite busy.

St Gilgen at the top of the lake is not as nice as St Wolfgang, I thought, but worth a visit. If you have nerves of steel, you might try a ride on one of those tiny tin-cans of their cable car which goes waaay up the mountain - I got giddy just looking at it from the ground!

If you struck a rainy day, you might take the bus to Bad Ischl and see the Emperor%26#39;s villa and one or two of the museums there by way of indoor activities. There%26#39;s also an operetta festival on there at the moment which is loads of fun - and apparently there IS a night bus that runs between Bad Ischl and St Wolfgang in the wee smalls but I never figured that one out... the performances finish at 11.30pm so a bit hard for public transport, even in Austria.

Have a great time!

for anyone who was wondering, the hotel is superb, really friendly and personal.

not too far from town either... in fact its quite nice not being in the centre... not so many tourists, and its a lovely walk to get to town!

I am planning to go to this hotel in February 2008 for a skiing / tennis holiday - do you know how far it is to the ski lifts or cable cars?

Thanks
