best location to stay

Where is the best location to stay so we can walk everywhere? Thanks.

Without a doubt the first or central district (%26quot;Innere Stadt%26quot;) - just look out for hotels with the postcode 1010. Much of this district is pedestrianised or has light traffic and you can walk to almost all the major sights with the exception of the Palace of Schönbrunn, the Prater amusement park (ferris wheel from the Third Man), the Danube River itself, the Central Cemetery and the outlying wine growing (and drinking!) areas. But even all of these are accessible by a simple tram or underground journey at relatively little expense.

As I have family in Vienna and stay with them I can%26#39;t readily advise, but there are many threads on this forum about hotel recommendations or you could use TripAdvisor%26#39;s hotel search for your dates or the Vienna tourist office%26#39;s search facility:

A regular poster on this forum, Roley, frequently visits Vienna and stays in Pensions and better value hotels. Perhaps if she reads this she will give some advice.

Pension Nossek was quite Grand for the cost, you won%26#39;t find a better local. It%26#39;s also a historic building for those interested in Mozart.
