where to go after salzberg

We will be in Salzberg in August for a week on a cycling holiday. After that we have about 10 days left before returning home. We were thinking of going by train possibly to Innsbruck and then mabie on to Italy but we cant decide where to go as there are so many options! Another option we were considering was the train from Salzburg to Zurich and then on to Lake Como or else possibly to Trieste or Slovenia. Ideally we would like to go somewhere relaxing with nice scenery after all the hard cycling we will have done! Would really appreciate any suggestions anyone has.

Thanks for your help

There are many possibilities like:

1.

Innsbruck - Zurich - lake Lugano or Como

2.

Innsbruck - Bozen - lake Garda - Verona - Venice

I wouldn%26#39;t go farther than Innsbruck as your desired regions are even East of Salzburg and Innsbruck. From Innsbruck you have good train connections to Italy. What about going to Venice and then proceed in Easterly direction to Slovenia?

Hi,

I can suggest a plan for %26quot;relaxing with nice scenery%26quot; in 10 days.

From Salzburg head to Hall in Tirol ( 10km from Innsbruck), then into Italy (Sud Tirol) to Bressanone/Brixen and then to the quintessential Bavarian village surrounded by Alps... Mittenwald, Germany. Not too much traveling between places (2 to 3 hours, at least it is by car), beautiful old towns/villages and fantastic mountain scenery.

Our recent photo%26#39;s of these places can be seen at:

Hope this helps.

Bled on Lake Bled is very nice, Slovenia worth a visit if you%26#39;ve not been IMO

I don%26#39;t recommend Innsbruck at all, especially after being in Salzburg. It is not nearly as nice and we were so disappointed we%26#39;ll more than likely never return.

Innsbruck´s location is just beautiful, much more beautiful than Salzburg´s!!!! It is surrounded by really high mountains and if the weather is nice it is really lovely.

I agree with both LizR and Ulrike73. We don%26#39;t care for Innsbruck at all yet love the area... which is why we love staying in Hall in Tirol. Beautiful old town with the same (as Innsbruck) mountain backrop.

skip switzerland - unless i am wrong you have the most beautiful mountain scenery in and around salzburg - an example bavaria ...berchtesgaden only 12 miles from salzburg you could spend several one day side trips there and those alpine villages around salzburg - with all the mountains around salzburg you have some of the best scenary anywhere. that is why i am planning a trip to salzburg in september which i hope is good weatherwise. if i am wrong on this message please tell me and i will change to germany and nuremberg bamberg etc.

Italy in summer?????

Look into the tiny village of Lauterbrunnen a few miles by train from Interlaken, Switzerland. Georgous - we just visited and will be back. It%26#39;s a beautiful, lush little village. If you get bored hiking, easy biking or hanging out you can hop on a train and be in Interlaken in 20 mins or so and enjoy the lake or the night life the town has to offer. Just a thought.
