5 days in austria

Okay -- so we are contemplating a last minute trip to Austria in a couple weeks. Our big problem is that we only have 5-6 days of vacation time. What are your suggestions on must sees --- would you stay in a different place each night and travel by train daily? We want it to be a fun relaxing trip as well..so we don%26#39;t want to cram too much into this short window. Thanks for any advice!

Do you arrive in Vienna?

I%26#39;d visit Vienna, Salzburg, Hallstatt and the %26#39;Wachau%26#39; region.

Thank You Mikey. Do you think 5 days is too short to hit those areas? We will either fly into Vienna or Salzburg. Do you recommend rail travel between the locations you suggested?

You say that you do not wish to %26quot;cram too much %26quot; and wish a %26quot; fun and relaxing trip%26quot;

Staying in a different place every night is not my idea of what you wish to have in a vacation.

With such limited time 5-6 days , I would go to just 2 places- Vienna and Salzburg.

Perhaps using an open jaw ticket flying into one city and out of the other.

The train makes an easy transfer between the cities in about 2 1/2 hours leaving a portion of the transfer day for sightseeing.

Perhaps 3 days in vienna and 2-3 in salzburg

Using 1 day in salzburg for a trip to the lake region.

Trip Advisor offers much advice on sightseeing

also for Vienna

look to the city tourist office site

www.info.wien.at

for much sightseeing advice , hotel and restuarant info.
