Hi,
I will be in Vienna for a couple of days.. like to know which is better in your opinion, a day trip to Hallstatt (4 hrs away), Bratislava (1 hr) or Brno (1.5hr?)?

Well, such questions are always hard to answer!
What do you like? A nice little village by a lake, a capital of another (neighbouring) country or another or a large city in the Czech Republic?
If you don%26#39;t wanna go to Hallstatt, I%26#39;d go for Bratislava as it is closer to Vienna and better reachable (2 trains each hour).

will it be too tiring to travel to hallstatt? if i leave early in the morning, i think the most i have will be only 5 to 6 hrs in hallstatt, is it enough? my first choice is actually hallstatt, its just the distance factor..

If you have a burning desire to go to Hallstadt, just be prepared to chart out your route and get on/off trains without delay. You can take one of the many trains going to Salzburg, but you have to get off in Attnang-Puchheim, Upper Austria, and then transfer to the Salzkammergutbahn going to Bad Ischl and eventually to Hallstatt%26#39;s far side. The town is a ferry ride away. Then make the trip back in time to reach Vienna late in the evening. Check it at www.oebb.at
Is it worth it? Your pick . . .
I%26#39;d take Bratislava first, maybe Brno for a better scenic route with a pretty city at its terminus.

5-6 hours in Hallstatt are enough as the village itself is small and not packed with sights. The attractiveness is just the unique location and the old-style Austrian architecture.
If you will be bored of cities, then go to Hallstatt. If not go to Bratislava....

wow.. its between hallstatt and bratislava then~ will research into both area more and decide...
Thanks so much for your info!
