Supermarkets

We are staying in The White Horse Inn Apartments and need to visit a supermarket before we arrive.

We are arriving at Munich Airport and driving down to St Wolfgang.

Are there any supermarkets en route? We would rather shop before arriving in St Wolfgang to help us keep the cost down if possible.

Thank you for any help - have also posted this on the Munich Forum.....

There should be many supermarkets en route, look for Billa, Spar or Salzkammergut Konsum!

In St. Wolfgang, there are 3 supermarkets (rather small but have anything you need) in the village. Two of them are also open on Sundays during summer season.

More information, also on shopping:

Search for St. Wolfgang

Thank you! Will look for one en route...

Salzkammergut Konsum? Is there anything I missed?

For all others:

KONSUM was a supermarket chain that went bankrupt in the 90s. KONSUM was very political and did apparently not understand the general market rules. This company really crashed and caused a big scandal in Austria affecting a previously mighty political party.

Yeah, you missed this:

I%26#39;m a bit confused about the last one - is the supermarket there or not en route?

I presume that there is a main road or two from Munich airport towards St Wolfgang, are there any supermarkets visible en route?

That%26#39;s all I need to know really as I%26#39;m travelling with two children : )

Thank you once again!

Sorry but the Wikipedia page is in German, so I don%26#39;t know what I should be reading. Is it just about the scandal of the supermarket?

I just need some practical advice really as I just don%26#39;t want to rely on the shops in St. Wolfgang as there are probably quite expensive.

Thank you....

Assuning you do not wish to shop in St. Wolfgang.

2 major supermarkets among others are Spar and Billa.

If you exit the autobahn at the Thalgau exit not far east of Salzburg - you pass the following:

Spar has a market in St. Gilgen on Wolfgangsee just across the lake from St. Wolfgang.

location is Mondsee Bundesstrasse 1- open Monday - Saurday usually early morning 7- 18 or 19:00

In Hof near to Fuschl is a Billa

Thannstrasse 2 similar hours to above -

both have most all items you could need-

Both have good sized parking lots - cart- usually

you need a 1 or 2 euro coin to get the cart from the rack- returned to you as you return cart.

Forget the comment on the supermarket scandal! The link given was for me!

Do you think that St. Wolfgang is 20km apart from Munich Airport, just reachable by one road leading directly to the village?

Supermarkets belonging to a chain have the same prices everywhere, at least I have never experienced a difference. So if there is a BILLA or SPAR you won%26#39;t pay more. Actually you would pay more at a gasoline station shop than in St. Wolfgang. Furthermore we don%26#39;t have supermarkets %26quot;along%26quot; of roads as they are in or close by the villages.

No, I do not think that there is one road from Munich to St Wolfgang. I just haven%26#39;t researched it yet!! (Just trying to get a %26#39;rough%26#39; idea and maybe directions)

Thank you for all the advice anyway to everyone - I will take a look at the supermarket websites and then look for directions. Thank you for giving me the names of them anyway - that is very helpful.

PS. Thank you Vertical, I will write the information down and take it with us...
