Are there any big toy shops in Vienna, such as toysRus? We%26#39;ll be in trouble if we go to Vienna and don%26#39;t bring the grand-children back their expected presents.

Several toysrus in Vienna but they are in the outer disricts of the city - and take some effort to reach.
One in Stadlau the 22nd District another in Simmering 11th district.
In the city center , you will find several speciality toy shops small but nice things -
one is Kober - on Graben the pedestrian shopping street not far from Julius meinl food shop -
Easy to see their sign - shop one floor up- they have a small elevator.
Dools, stuffed toys , toy trains, action figures. plastic models, etc.
Another shop on Schulerstrasse just behind Stephansdom and almost across the street from the Konig von Ungarn hotel.
Both very easy to access for the tourists.

Excellent. Thank you very much vertical.

Kober is great fun - a real old-fashioned rabbit-warren of a toyshop where you can rummage for hours (though you may buy more things for yourself than the grandkids!) You can%26#39;t miss it - just look for the life-sized stuffed bear standing outside in fine weather!
Quite a few of the museum shops have gifts for children too, such as jigsaws, colouring books, models, soft toys, children%26#39;s t-shirts etc etc. They tend to be a bit nicer than the sort of thing one gets in the tourist shops. The shop attached to the Hofburg has historical-Vienna-themed gifts, and the Spanish Riding School shop has some nice things if you have any horse-mad youngsters in the family! For music-oriented gifts for all ages, have look in the music store under the arcades of the the State Opera house - there%26#39;s lots of fascinating stuff in there. And a trip to any supermarket will supply enough chocolate and goodies to keep the young %26#39;uns in sticky silence for some time to come - look out for branches of the Billa and Spar supermarkets around the city for the best bargains.

More great info. Thanks Roley.

If you visit between today and the end of June you may not see the bear due to the Euro2008 activities along Graben. I suspect Kober may remove him.
He was there several days ago but looks very worn and old . The crowds can only do more harm to this much photographed guy.
For collectors- Kober has a special edition Austrian Air Airbus 320 model aircraft in a special Euro 2008 livery.
This small model is made by Herpa , a german company is in great detail.
Euro 2008 hats, scarfs etc. already at 50 % reduced prices in our supermarkets.

Cheers vertical.Visiting during 1st. week in July, so I hope the big rush/crowds will have gone.
