Hi, I am currently in the process of planning an extensive holiday around Europe. I have been looking on the www.oebb.at website, but I am not able to find prices listed for the Vienna to Slovenia (Ljubljana I think) train journey.
I have seen a similar thread about it being much cheaper to buy tickets the day before from the train station in Vienna. If this is the case does anybody know how far in advance I must purchase them and an approximate price.
I would be very grateful for any help.
Thanks,
Mike

That%26#39;s totally wrong!
International fare display is not possible with a few exceptions as there are so many bilateral contracts. But frankly, if they can say it at the station - why not via internet? Anyway, it is only possible by calling the service hotline +43 5 1717 or via e-mail. E-Mail should be the best way!

Hi,
look at here:
slo-zeleznice.si/en/…
These are prices from Slovenia to Vienna, but I doubt vv can be much different. Try to get that Sparschiene ticket, but be careful: it%26#39;s not valid for all trains.
Cheers,
Beni

Took the train from Vienna to Ljubljana and returned Bled to Vienna for about 80 euros in May with OEBB%26#39;s vortielscard which gives a 50% discount on travel in austria and 25% off international, so it%26#39;s about 40 each way. Without the discount card that works out to about 60 each way. If you%26#39;re going to be in Slovenia and want to travel the countryside a bit though, it might be better to train into northern slovenia and rent a car the rest of the way as I%26#39;ve been told car rental is a lot cheaper in Slovenia (around 40 euros/day) and the country is much more accessible by car.
as mentioned above, try to get a sparschiene ticket from OEBB by calling them. They%26#39;re only good on certain trains but are much cheaper at just 29 euros!
PS --totally loved Slovenia, one of my favourite places in Europe
