Hi Mike! I think you´ll forgive a little mistake?!Don´t you?
Just in case, someone can help us:
Is it possible to purchase a ticket Prague-Wien online? At OBB.at website it seems impossible...Is there any other vendor? Thanks! regards.

There is no need to pre-purchase a ticket for this journey. Reservations on the Prague %26lt;%26gt; Vienna [%26#39;Wien%26#39; is the German name of the city] route are not compulsory. You can just buy the ticket in Prague on the day of travel.

If you take a Czech train (Pendolino) you have to acquire a seat reservation for approx. 7€ extra. Austrian trains don%26#39;t, but I recommend to show up not 5 minutes before departure in order to occupy the desired seats.

Can anyone tell me if getting the tickets at the station we get the same pricing than buying it in advance? I noted that online the offer fares are from €28.
Thanks!

You only get the regular fare at the train stations as all other fares are subject to certain rules and availability. Bear in mind that discounted tickets are tied to a specific train connection - alteration not allowed! Furthermore, I don%26#39;t know wether these 29€ tickets are available at the Czech side as it is a product of Austrian Railways (ÖBB).

If you buy the ticket in Prague it costs EUR32.50 (equivalent in Czech Crowns), more if you go on the Pendolino, which is mainly designed for business travel and you only save about 30 minutes for a much greater outlay. The usual EC trains are more comfortable as well IMO - I have been travelling on that route for many years in between Brno, Vienna and Prague and have never had any problems.
It also costs more if you go the other way (i.e. starting in Vienna).

As you live by the Praha-Wien railway corridor, I%26#39;d like to ask wether CD plans or even works on a new railtrack or adaption of the exisiting track to increase speed of passenger trains. On the Austrian side (Hohenau %26gt; Vienna) there are unfortunately no intentions to enhance the tracks as they spend all the money to enhance the Vienna %26gt; Linz %26gt; Salzburg corridor featuring many new tunnels allowing 230km/h. Their most impressive project is a tunnel system close to Vienna to bring trains from the new Main Station easily to the West at a high speed.

If you are interested, here is a site about the new rail station in Brno (Europoint) which should considerably speed up the time between Prague and Vienna - unfortunately the beautiful old station will be turned into another shopping centre or something like that, but all in the name of progress, I suppose! Most of the new track is in place now - this is the main sticking point.
As for all the money going elsewhere in Austria, it is a similar story with the Brno - Vienna highway. On the Czech side it is all in place, but the Austrians don%26#39;t seem that interested, even though it is one of the main routes between northern Europe and Italy. Once you get past Mikulov you have to go through all the villages, which I am sure don%26#39;t appreciate the ever-increasing amount of traffic going that way.
But anyway, I digress - going way off-topic here! :)
