Anyone been to Maria Alm in the Summer?

I%26#39;m visiting Austria for the first time in August and I%26#39;m looking for somewhere reasonably quiet with beautiful scenery.Someone recommended Maria Alm, can anyone give me any advice? We will be travelling by train from Cologne so it needs to be accessible by public transport. Any tips about accomodation?

You can go by train to Saalfelden (Austria) and from there by bus or cab to Maria Alm, about 4km from S.

For train connections from Koeln (Cologne) to Saalfelden check www.bahn.de

The village is very picturesque, at the foot of the Steinerne Meer mountain massif. Nearby places (accessible by train or bus) are Zell am See, Kitzsteinhorn Glacier (near Kaprun) and bus trips to the Grossglockner. There are many hiking opportunities.

Can%26#39;t be of any help on lodging. We stayed in Saalfelden. Had a very plesant lunch in M.A. and saw a number of hotels, Pensionen (B%26amp;B%26#39;s) and %26quot;Zimmer Frei%26quot; (bedrooms in pirvate homes). Write to the tourist office or check the web site.

Thanks for the tips, that%26#39;s really helpful! :-)

I%26#39;m also going to Maria Alm this August - also my first time visit to Austria. What do you know about the weather there in August? I see that most places are not air conditioned.
