Hi,
We are planning to visit Vienna in September and we decided to stay at hotel ibis Mariahilf. Could you tell me if it is at a good location with cafes, restaurants shopping centers etc? Which is the distance between hotel and the center (St.Stephen%26#39;s Cathedral for example)? We have to take transport to go there or we can go on foot?
Thanks

The Ibis Mariahilf is a large modern looking high rise hotel very near to the Vienna train station Westbahnhof.
It is located on a busy traffic street part of the outer Gurtel.
One good plus as Early September can be warm- it has air conditioning.
The hotel is perhaps 150 meters walk to the Westbahnhof. There you will find the UBahn ( subway)
Line U-3 that takes you into city center Stephansdom in about 10 minutes -5 stops. You should take public transport - a long walk.Numerous other hotels in the area. Some restaurants but nothing great For better choices , you will probably go elsewhere.
Mariahilferstrasse , nearby, 3 minute walk, is a major shopping street.
With the UBahn close by , you have good access to sightseeing.
The Volkstheater stop ( 3rd stop ) provides access to the Ringstrasse , the major city boulevard. The next stop ( 4th stop )after this is Herrengasse- quick access to The Hofburg Palace, Cafe central etc.
