safe Westbahnhof area?

Thanks Vertical,

Another question is that how safe is the area around hotel? I am asking you, because i know from other countries that areas beside train stations are not so safe. For example when we were in Prague local people said to avoid such areas especially at nights!

Also, Westbahnhof is one of the major train stations in Vienna. I am planning day trips to Bratislava and Graz. Does any train leaves for these destination?

Thanks in advance

You will find the trains to Graz and Bratislava generally leave from the Südbahnhof.

This is easy to reach from the Westbahnhof area via the streetcar#18 found in front of the Westbahnhof - no changes needed - trip about 15 minutes.

The area of your hotel as mentioned is on a major street- much traffic- the area in front of the Wesztbahnhof is a large, open square -like area- a changing place for UBahn and streetcars in addition to the train- normally many people around. I would consider it safe and generally no real problems- but like any major city it is best to take normal precautions.

I consider the areas by the Sudbahnhof, Prater Wien Nord station and the Franz Josef Bahnhof less desirable than Westbahnhof.

If you take the U-6 UBahn south from Westbahnhof to Gumpendorfer Strasse stop, also on the Gürtel I would not think that this is the best place at night.less desirable.

If you have any concern - Ibis has another hotel also not a bad location . I think recent discussions about this hotel here .

I would avoid the Ibis Messe as this location is less desirable
