Hello,
We are staying in St Wolfgang in 3 weeks time.
My 11 year old son is desperate to have a fondue as he adores cheese! Can anyone recommend a restaurant that serves fondue?
Thank you...

I%26#39;d say the %26quot;Weisses Roessl%26quot; would be a safe bet. It%26#39;s a lovely %26#39;Romantic Hotel%26#39; and has a good name, although it is a bit pricey.
It%26#39;s %26quot;Seerestaurant%26quot; (Lakeside Restaurant) has great vistas besides the food. Well worth a visit.

Well, you travel to the wrong country to enjoy Fondue. :-)
But hopefully you will find a restaurant serving this Swiss dish. A inquiry on GOOGLE displayed the Weisses Rössl and the Seerestaurant in conjunction with %26#39;fondue%26#39;, as already mentioned before.
Just bear in mind that the %26quot;Weisses Rössl%26quot; is a very expensive hotel and an institution in Austria (like the Sacher Hotel in Vienna).

While the Swiss have the center stage of fondue culture, you should be able to find the dish in good restaurants in the Alps. Certainly you will find a lot of them serving Kässpätzle, which for an 11-year old is probably even more exciting: cheese and pasta! Macaroni %26#39;n%26#39; cheese, what%26#39;s not to love. . .
St. Wolfgang has other restaurants apart from the venerable White Horse, and you will find a large selection of traditional dishes at much lower prices (my recommendation, visit the White Horse Inn, maybe have a drink there, but walk farther into town for your dinner).
I%26#39;m pretty sure your youngster will overcome his predilection for %26#39;adult%26#39; dishes like fondue when he sees what else is being offered.
Talk him into two of my favorite non-meat dishes: Germknödel and Kaiserschmarren

Thank you so much - I feel DREADFULLY embarressed that I have my countries muddled up! SO sorry!
We are staying at The White Horse Apartments but we will venture into town and see what we can have that contains.....cheese!

don%26#39;t worry, %26quot;mikey%26quot; was surely joking. you can get pretty good cheese fondue (there%26#39;s also meat and the most delectable chocolate fondue, the latter served with fresh fruits to dip) in many places in Austria and as you can see here
weissesroessl.at/en-restaurants-lakeside_res…
right where you are. It%26#39;s their latest speciality at the Lakeside Restaurant.
I have had pretty good cheese fondue in many places around the world, and if you visit your local deli back home, they might even have the handy 400 G packs of ready-to-serve pouches of Swiss Fondue. %26quot;Chalet%26quot; and %26quot;Appenzeller%26quot; are two brand names under which ready-to-heat fondue is sold.
Enjoy your trip.
