Help with 1 Day with Kids in Salzburg

Next July 5 (Sunday) we%26#39;ll be visiting Salzburg (2 adults, 12 %26amp; 8 year old kids). We are planning to arrive from Munich on train at around 10:00am and depart to Munich by train at around 6-7:00pm. We were planning to visit first the Hellbrunn Palace and fountains, then visit the Fortress Hohensalzburg, then stroll around downtown before visiting the Mirabell Gardens before taking back the train. Is all this possible in one day? Is this the best order to avoid crowds? Is there something else that might interest the kids? Are attractions / shops / restaurants closed on Sundays? Thank you very much.

Hello, while you are at Hellbrunn you might like to take the children to the zoo. It is within the grounds of Hellbrunn and is fantastic. I%26#39;m not a fan of caged animals as a rule but Salzburg zoo is wonderful. You would be able to do all of this in a day. I think the order you have quoted sound right. You can take the bus No. 25 to Hellbrunn from outside the train station.

Thank you very much to everyone for all the tips.

You might get a one day Salzburg card, it would cover the cost to Hellbrunn and the Fortress. I think you can purchase it at the train station and it would cover your bus ride to the section of town you want to see. To tour Hellbrunn, we got the ticket to leave at 1 on the tour boat, then had to take a bus back, which was easy (and covered by the card), and returned about 4. You might want to get your ticket, then walk up to the fortress venicular, tour the fortress and get back to catch the boat by 1. I don%26#39;t think you could do much more in your time frame, but if you have time, the card also would cover the cost of a wax museum, right by Mozart%26#39;s birthplace and between the boat tour and fortress. Also, there is a Billa grocery near the tour boat that has ready made sandwiches and salads.

Have fun!
