Just returned from this beautiful city. We found that going to the Billa supermarket, right close to the river where the boat tour is, you can find ready made salads and sandwiches that are great. Also, you can buy some souvenirs and the best chocolate, very reasonable.
Getting a 48 hour Salzburg card is a great deal. You can go to many places for free with it and use transportation. We enjoyed everything, especially the tour at Hellbrun, the fortress, and the tour of Mozart%26#39;s homes.
Not cheap, but definitely a fun time is the %26quot;Sounds of Salzburg%26quot; show.

(=roll with warm and soft meat inside sometimes also containing cheese = Käseleberkäse)

Actually, I%26#39;m a vegetarian, not very easy to be in Europe, but waitresses were very nice to help me select what to try. My husband thoroughly enjoyed many new things, but I don%26#39;t think he had that.

Ha, that%26#39;s my favourite! Although the roll with the turkey, sliced radish and cucumber is also nice .... don%26#39;t know the name of that one!
Another Billa delicacy - in the cooler with the prepackaged salads look out for the big plastic pots of topfen (a sort of rich creamy yoghurt-like quark) mixed with chopped strawberries (Erdbeer). Seriously good!

If you wanna experience a even better quality and service, go to the supermarket chain GOURMET SPAR. They have the best meat and sliced meat such as ham, bacon etc. in conjunction with a very professional and attentive staff. Like supermarkets were many years ago as everything was still fine.... :-)
