Sudebahnhof Train Station

Hello everyone. Does anyone know how to transport from the Sudebahnhof to the Atlantis Hotel, Wurzbachgasse 21 by public transportation? Or, would a taxi be the only alternative? Many thanks for any help in getting around Vienna, plus what your favorite site would be?

The easiest option by public transport is to take tram (streetcar) #18 (direction %26quot;Burggasse-Stadthalle%26quot;) from just outside the station alighting at the next to last stop %26quot;Urban-Loritz-

Platz%26quot; (20mins journey time). From there it%26#39;s a 5 minute walk to the hotel along Neubaugurtel in the same direction you%26#39;ve been travelling then turning left into Sorbaitgasse and first right into Wurzbachgasse.

If you%26#39;ve lots of baggage then a taxi would be easier.

For general information about getting around look at the Tripadvisor pages on public transport:

What do you mean by favourite site? Site as in website or sight as in %26quot;sightseeing%26quot;?

I got a kick out of %26quot;American in Utah%26quot;. Living in SLC I even got some idea what you might be talking about.

You might want to check out Vienna%26#39;s metro website:

http://www.wienerlinien.at/

I am a rookie at this; but, I managed to plug in your start and finish (Ziel) points, and came up with several options. Norman seems to know this stuff cold and helped me with a question. Still, it is nice to learn to use the tools available.

Trikist - it may (or may not) surprise you to know that I use the Wiener Linien website for directions too. It%26#39;s an excellent tool which gives comprehensive details of journeys with timings (which in Vienna are usually spot on) and links to small, but excellent maps for your start and end points and even for any transfer points. I have never come across another city transport website that is so comprehensive. However, many of the most useful features need a knowledge of german to use to their full.

Being a night bird I tend to be online when many of my friends in Vienna are asleep and so I often pick up queries from people in the States who are just home from work. I sneak in with an answer before my more knowledgeable colleagues even see the post. But don%26#39;t tell them that!!!!!

If you arrive by train from Prague you can also deboard at Wien-Simmering (one stop before the Wien-Südbahnhof) and interchange to subway line U3. Get off at Westbahnhof and then take subway line U6 (direction: Floridsdorf) to Burggasse/Stadthalle.

The advantage is that you save a little time and don%26#39;t have to deal with the ugly Südbahnhof (I always try to keep visitors off this station to not encloud their impressions). Wien-Simmering is a calm and new suburban interchange station.

Just a tip from my side!

PS: By the end of 2009 Südbahnhof will be demolished to make space for the new Viennese Main Station!

All trains from the South will end at Wien-Meidling.
