Hi
We are planning to go to Vienna in July, would have loved to attend Opera but have found out that in July and August the Opera is closed.
Instead we are getting tickets for the Vienna Mozart Orchestra at the Staatsoper (State Opera)
Would love to know whether its worth attending, is it good?
P.S. Is there a dress code for this event???
Thanx

We%26#39;re planning to go to one of these events too.I can%26#39;t help you with your first query, but as far as dress code goes, I%26#39;ve been informed that for July %26amp; August, dress code is %26quot;casual%26quot;.

A good music alternative is the Strauss Operetta %26quot;Die Fledermaus%26quot; performed at the theater of the Palace Schonbrunn.
A perfect setting and a fine music.
Or a fine performance at Mörbisch on a beautiful lake - their offering %26quot; Weisses Rössl %26quot;
Packages available including bus transfer

While the State Opera offers an ideal venue - the Mozart Evening is not the best value for the price in my opinion.
Offerings are the usual Mozart Strauss favorites-
Wigs and period costumes, usually some tourist taking photos do not enhance the evening in my opinion.
But a good way to see the interior of the Opera House other than taking a tour.
No dress code- you will see a little of everything.
