On our way home to Canada, we are staying in Vienna for one day and was wondering if members can recommend any activity to do or sight seeing to see? Thank you in advance.

Focus on the city centre with its gorgeous buildings along the ring street and the area within! If you like palaces you need to go to Schönbrunn Palace (easily reachable by subway line U4 in 10-15min).
Stay as central as possible!
